YOGA BIO:
Throughout her childhood, Maythinee was always finding new ways to contort her body into pretzel-like positions in the name of play and discovery. Delighted to learn that such a thing as yoga existed, she quickly delved in to developing a solid practice, exploring many different styles including Bikram, Vinyasa Flow, and Anusara. Craving a means to use yoga specifically for physical and emotional healing drew her to study with renowned teacher Ana Forrest. Maythinee teaches classes that use intelligent sequencing, deep pranayama, and core strengthening to encourage students to tap into their own authenticity and curiosity. She encourages finding joy in contrasts: finding peace in challenges, stillness in movement. Incorporating her experience as a massage therapist and physical theater actor into her teaching philosophy, Maythinee fosters an environment where students learn to play honestly and safely with their edges and receive powerful tools to take into other yoga styles. A kid at heart with gypsy blood, she loves finding the spirit of yoga in traveling, conversations with new people, and good eating.
Forrest Yoga is an inspiring yoga method designed by Ana Forrest to address the ails of modern living. The main theme of Forrest Yoga is to “mend the hoop of the people.” Through this practice, each student is invited to own and explore her/his unique authenticity one breath at a time. Over time, the practice of Forrest Yoga fosters a continuum from deep breathing to deep feeling to profound healing. In practical terms, this style engages the core through strong abdominal exercises and builds flexibility, intelligence, and strength. Heat, deep breathing, vigorous sequences and long holds are used to awaken the senses, sweat out toxins, release emotions stored in cell tissue, and deepen connection to spirit leaving the practitioner rejuvenated.
